Overview

When life breaks, old labels often break with it. That can be terrifying, but it can also become a place of truth. The question is not only, “Who was I?” but, “Who am I becoming now?”

Old Labels

Write the labels you have carried: provider, failure, abandoned, rejected, successful, needed, invisible, strong, weak, angry, alone. Some labels were given to you. Some were earned. Some were armor. Some were lies.

Truth Statements

Roles

Roles matter, but they are not the whole self. When a role changes, the person beneath it still needs care. You may lose a title, a relationship, a job, or a future, but you are not erased.

Values

Name the values you want to live from now: humility, courage, tenderness, honesty, patience, loyalty, faithfulness, compassion. Rebuilding identity is not just remembering who you were. It is choosing who you will practice becoming.

Becoming

Becoming is usually quiet. It looks like small choices repeated when no one is applauding. It looks like telling the truth, asking forgiveness, keeping a promise, resting when pride wants performance, and showing up again tomorrow.
